Interior Design 2021

2020 has been the year of renovating the house and getting all those interior design ticks off your to-do list. With lockdown taking up nearly the whole year, we have spent a lot of time indoors and fixing things up and deciding whether we want charcoal grey or mustard coloured paint on the living room walls. Whether you took time to rethink your home interiors or you’re looking to take the gourdy re-decor plunge in 2021, this post will have all the do’s and don’ts for the interior design trends to come in 2021.

The design of the modern-day twenties

We’re in a new decade, which means new and exciting trends are to come, so out with the old and in with the new! Over the past year, it is safe to say we have seen a lot of clear trends come through our doors, most of them are all about that cosy cabin vibe, making your house cosier, warmer and more inviting – which is perfect for those winter nights creeping in, who wouldn’t want that extra warmth in their holmes?

Alongside the cosy cabin appeal, we have a lot of nature going on, from hanging baskets to wall plants to practical tree’s in our houses, we have truly become one with nature this year and this will certainly be growing throughout 2021. See below the top five interior design trends we predict for 2021:

The five fabulous interior design trends for 2021

The Home Office

Before lockdown the home office was really a thing of freelancers, well times have changed, 2021 is all about the modern home office, with our working from home needs what more could we want than our own concentration room that offers coolness accompanied by cosiness. Many people are going for the clean industrial look with a few plants or the shabby chic feel, Even if you don’t have a dedicated home office you can still create a ‘separate’ space that you can work in, you just have to think out the box a bit!

Modern Mixed Vintage

modern-vintage-interiors

With a lot of 70s decor in fashion at the moment there is a lot of modern interior going on vintage, especially in the bathrooms, Victoria Plumb noted that the modern vintage mix is increasing in popularity as people move away from that very sleek, contemporary monochrome look that’s been on trend for decades. We’re talking hanging ornate mirrors, in vintage chairs, and bold colours.

The Cottagecore Trend

Oh yes, cottagecore is definitely a thing, thanks to an aesthetic that started life on social media. Cottagecore is pastoral and based around rural life. We talked about cosy homely vibes and it doesn’t get any more wholesome than quaint cottage interior is truly a bit of home comfort.

The Grandmillennial

Are you into shabby chic? Well in this case, out with the new and in with the old, it’s time to turn your home decor granny chic! We’re talking floral prints, lace tablecloths, embroidered curtains, and pure gourdy wallpaper. It’s timeless, quite ’70s but we love it. Just keep it a good level of vintage before turning it into your great grandma’s Jo’s house.

Natural Textures

We are all about the texture and the nature in our houses right now! We have been seeing texture increasingly being used as wall covering and flooring over colours and it is a look. This can be used anywhere around your house, In living rooms, bedrooms, your bathroom even on cushions and blankets. Animal prints and throws really accompany this look too.

I recently purchased some Oak Victorian Skirting from Skirting Boards Direct. I am very happy with the quality of the Boards. I ordered them on the Saturday and they were delivered on the following Wednesday, which was fantastic.
